Noelle Beck is a passionate spiritual entrepreneur within the city of Akron. She founded First Glance in 2000 to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of teenagers in Kenmore. In 2017, Noelle established Akron on Purpose where she helps others unlock the fullness of relationship we can have with God and hosts a yearly conference rallying, encouraging and highlighting the amazing women of Akron!

 

Noelle’s adventures take place in the Kenmore community of Akron where she resides with her amazing husband, Tim, of 22 years, along with any housemates they pick up along the way. She has the distinct pleasure of being Enoch, Trinity and Gio’s mom. She loves frothy coffee, Jeeps with no doors, and biking adventures.

Her life goals include biking across America, wear Converse until she’s 80, and taking over Akron with the truth and love of Jesus!

Jennifer is a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Akron, Ohio, where she serves in the area of pastoral care, worship, and administration.  As a licensed and ordained minister, she leads the worship services, preaches the word, teaches Bible Study and conducts worship and music workshops for the members of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and the community. 

 

Jennifer served 10 years as the Choral Master for the Annual Gospel Meets Symphony Chorus (a community of 200 gospel singers and musicians that join with the Akron Symphony Orchestra to perform annually at the E. J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall).  She’s also supervises in the area of the prevention at Minority Behavioral Health Group. 

 

Jennifer, affectionately known as “JJ”, is the proud mother of two wonderful and musically talented children, Joshua and Jazmin.  She is a born again Christian woman who is sanctified and anointed to sing and teach God’s praises.

 JUDI HILL is a native of Oberlin, Ohio. Professionally she worked for Akron Public Schools for thirty plus years teaching, designing curriculum and serving as an administrator.

​

As a retiree she is a true servant leader, actively involved in the community. Her sincere focus is true equity for all the individuals in the community. She is the president of the Akron Chapter of the NAACP, a board member of Leadership Akron, and Towpath Credit Union. She is a Sunday school teacher at Arlington Church of God, a Guardian At Litem for abused and neglected children in Summit County and a member of Akron Christ Child Society.

 

 Judi Hill is a proud grandmother of 9, mother of 4 adult children and wife of Dr. Gregory Hill.    She lives her faith so that all people see is HIS Mercy.

Born in a small country town in Virginia, at the age of 24 moved to Ohio. Scary at the moment, but thank God for his guidance. She resides in Akron, Ohio, with her husband and her blended family- bonus son Donovan and two little men, Brayden and Brandon. Right now, life is a bit chaotic, but she wouldn't trade it for the world! Her husband, Pastor Daren Brake, is the Lead Pastor at The House of the Lord in Akron, under the leadership of Founder and Preaching Pastor Bishop Joey Johnson and the Founding First Lady Pastor Cathy Johnson. Her and husband will be celebrating 13 years of marriage- God is so faithful!  



 

Alaina is a part of the leadership team of Pastor Cathy's Women Walking Together in Christ and leads a ministry called UNcommon Women. She is also a part of the Worship and Praise Team and the Kingdom Choir at THOTL. Alaina is the Intake and Resource Specialist for Birthing Beautiful Communities. She also serves on the advisory board for Red Oak Behavioral Health. Alaina graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

 

She is an avid reader. She enjoys working out, photography, drawing, shopping, and encouraging others. Alaina loves God's people and God's word and loves to share who God is.

Nelda has lived in Akron her entire life loves this city.  She and her husband Joe have raised there for kids here and are actively involved in the community.  
 

Nelda is passion about praying with women. Wherever they are in their journey with Jesus.

She is passionate about talking about Jesus that makes sense and makes him available to everyone. 

She is excited to be on the prayer team and praying with the Women of Akron!

Sister Esterline, as many call her, is grateful whenever God allows her to serve. Over the years it's in teaching and preaching HIS WORD. It gives her great joy when HE annoints her and uses her through music when accompanying others on the piano. She find great joy in making His WORD and  hymns come alive through music. She is known by some as a comedian, she says, "I just like to lift others up thru laughter." One of her deepest passions is memorizing scripture through acronyms and physical movement.

 

Hobbies include thrifting to look rich at a cheap price and gardening.

Jodi is a follower of Jesus since the age of 18.  She absolutely knew she was a sinner, poor in spirit in relation to God, and in need of a Savior! That Savior is Jesus who loves her each and every day!  Jodi has been happily married to Pete Tucker for 43 years. (He's a very good man to stick with her for those many years with all her crazy antics.)  They have three adult children and their spouses to also love dearly along with the world's greatest grandchildren:  James, A.J., Lucy, Breanna, Cora, Lydia, Mya, and Malik.

 

She has recently entered a new phase of life called retirement after teaching children music in Cuyahoga Falls Schools for the past 24 years.  Retirement to her does not mean slowing down.  It means having more time to ponder the greatness, goodness and graciousness of her Creator God.  It also means switching gears to serving people in different ways other than elementary music teaching. 

 

Jodi enjoys silly humor and laughter.  She likes such movies as Elf, The Three Amigos and Coneheads.  That humor came in handy as she journeyed through treatments for her latest life "role:' breast cancer thriver/survivor.  Jodi is so grateful to God for His faithfulness in all times of her life and throughout all generations.

Mom to three forever kiddos, wife to Michael, daughter, sister, friend, nonprofit director, musician, teacher…Emilie’s many hats tend to all get worn at once. And that’s the way she likes it. Her perfect day is when all her roles collide and she gets to do all these things with her kids and husband, Team Oxley-style, as they call it. Learning to work from a place of rest has been her recent goal and will likely take her an entire lifetime to figure out. Emilie is a fiercely independent lady, who is learning to live desperate-for-Jesus, as though her life depends on it, because it does! 

 

One of her favorite verses is Psalm 8:2: “Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger.” She is passionate about vulnerable Moms and Babies in our community, eager to see the gospel lived out in the everyday rhythms of neighborhood life, and excited to see where God is working in the day-to-day moments of raising kids.

 

Things that give her soul rest are: hiking, reading, anything cozy and candle-lit, board games by the fire with her kids, adventuring to far-off places with her husband, making music, and deep conversations with dear friends. She’s excited to join the deep conversation with new friends this year at Akron Women on Purpose!

Kayla is married to the love of her life, John. They have 4 beautiful children: Kanaan, Kingston, Baby J, & Lily. 

Kayla spends her days snuggling her youngest child…& being surrounded by NEVER ENDING laundry, having spontaneous dance parties with her daughter, & being present in every moment to experience whatever God has for her to learn & love in that moment in time.

 

When asked about her Creator, Kayla will not hesitate to share that He sees.

He sees your pain.

He sees your mustard seed sized faith.

He sees the hope that is hanging on by a thread.

& He never forgets.

He’s with you, always…even when He’s silent.

 

Kayla is a bereavement doula, specifically supporting women who have experienced the loss of their children during pregnancy. She hopes to be a reminder to women everywhere that “rainbows” appear in many forms & God is faithful to keep his promises.

 

She is SO excited to be with all of you & to see all the ways God has proven himself faithful to you!

Maddie was adopted at the age of five along with her two biological brothers. She is the oldest of nine all who were adopted.  She enjoys singing with her little sisters and watching shows with her brothers.

 

She loves to read and write.She loves teaching and taking care of children!  She is attending college to receive an associate degree in early childhood education.

Maddie is part of the Bible study at her church and enjoy learning more about what God has done with the people in the Bible. "I love going to my young adult group at church and connecting with my friends and with God."
